Family Pictures 2010

Our cute friend Kristi was kind enough to take some family pictures of us. It was hard picking my favorites, but here a just a few of the many that I loved.

The moral of this story? Duct tape. To keep Colby' hands to his side. It would probably seem inappropriate to have duct tape across his mouth in the photos, but it is a nice idea nonetheless.

If you are interested in the complete album (150+ photos) here is the link to the Snapfish album. You will need to set up a quick account (30 seconds) to have access to it.

Sweet Baby Ryan

This is his second nap of the morning and it is only 11 am. When is my nap time?

6 months already?

I cannot believe my sweet baby is 6 months already. He is a bundle of energy and smiles. He loves orange vegetables, but hates green vegetables. Loves his dad's banana bread and inhales popcorn. He ADORES his brothers and thinks Lola is the funniest. I cannot imagine life without him.

Dear Tooth Fairy

Luke lost another tooth yesterday and Colby, who has not lost ANY teeth, got the idea from a book that he should put the tooth under his pillow and maybe the Tooth Fairy would give him the loot. Luke said he didn't care about the tooth or the Tooth Fairy (going on 12 thank you) so Colby quickly grabbed the precious tooth and "washed" it off. I found him in bed caressing (gag!) the tooth that was laid upon a tissue with this letter to the Tooth Fairy.

By: Colby To: The Tooth Fairy

My brother gave me this awesome tooth. Please give me the money. Please.

Fine, give Luke the money but he'll just give it to me.

The Tooth Fairy couldn't help but take pity on his funny little plot so the fairy left $1 under Colby's pillow. I made him show the $1 to Luke and ask permission to keep it. It was very painful for him to offer it to Luke, but he did and Luke graciously allowed him to keep it.

We love love love bathtime!

This kid goes NUTS over bath time, shower time, play-in-the-kitchen-sink-time. Anything with running water. Nuts over it.

Gee, thanks.

Colby found a Transformer - why he needs more is beyond me - at Walmart last night. He HAS to have it. It costs $5 and that is exactly the amount of money he has hidden somewhere in his room at home. So fine, I buy the toy and tell him when we get home he needs to get his money and pay me for it. We get home and he rounds up what he can find, but his room is such a mine field that he can't find it all. So the Repo Man keeps the toy until he can come up with the rest of the hidden money. He is able to finally locate it all and brings it to me. A bag of pennies mostly. Swell. I tell him to count it and lay it in piles of $1's. This is how I was paid. I'll take the bills, but have half a mind to tell him to keep his stupid pennies if I didn't believe he would use them to "buy" something else again and would try to pawn them off on me yet again.

I should mention that one of the dollar bills came from Corey earlier that day. We were at a store and Colby found a Texas Longhorn shirt that he really liked, thought it was cool and it was on clearance. I had already told him he could grab a couple shirts and this was one of them. The Longhorns are at the top of the Most Hated List in Corey's world and he is NOT happy about the shirt. I tell him to get over it and stop trying to influence his son on which team he can like or dislike (in a friendly-type manner). I fully intend on buying the shirt because I think the whole thing is silly. We get up to the cash register and Corey tells Colby he will give him $1 if he puts the shirt back. My greedy little monkey had that shirt back on the rack and his brand new dollar bill tightly in his fist in no time at all.

Funny kid.

For one of the many meals during our Disneyland trip we hit Jack in the Box for breakfast. It was not a good breakfast. I felt sick myself. Luke and DeeDee downed (mind you this is at 8am) cheeseburgers, fried tacos, breakfast sandwich's and topped off with a Mountain Dew. Sweet little Colby had part of a breakfast sandwich. By the time we got out to the car he was curled up in a ball and said he did not feel good at all. He moaned for a while and proclaimed he would NEVER eat at Jack in the Box AGAIN! This is a journal entry from this last week at school. It still gives him convulsions to think of it.

"I hate black. A place is a noun. I like to paint. I hate the rain. I love to camp. I'm in first grade. I hate Jack in the Box. I wish I had a tail. I love the Utah Flash. I love a ..."
Nonsense sentences for the most part. They are just supposed to write what is in their head. The funny part is the hating Jack in the Box. He gets nauseous at the very talk of that place.

"...Home. I like to draw. The only thing I pretty much read is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Just stop. Around went Blythe on her bike. Please stop before I kick you."
It is funny what is kicking around in his crazy head.

Where's my cookie?!

Don't mess with the Cookie Monster.

Apparently we really like Girl Scout Thin Mints (for breakfast - oopsie. Is that wrong?)

An afternoon well spent - i'd say.

Reading Bugs

We have been pretty lucky in our house to avoid any major bugs this season - we escaped flu bugs, cold bugs, etc. What we seem to have caught in a major way is the reading bug. Luke and Colby have been reading non-stop for the last couple of weeks. For Colby it has been any spare time he has, before school, after school, way into the late hours of the night, etc. For Luke it is for long periods at "bedtime" and any free time at school. They are cruising through books almost faster than I can keep them stocked.

Luke keeps a plethora of books shoved in and around his bed on a constant basis. Most nights I am not even sure he can stretch out properly on his bed because of all his books in there with him. He just cruised through The Lightening Thief series and is now making his way through A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Colby is obsessed with Diary of a Wimpy Kid. You can hear him giggling to himself at the silliness of the brothers in the book. I feel guilty telling him to turn his lights out and please go to bed when he is begging for "just one more page, Mom". This picture was today after school. He gets himself a snack and settles down with his book.

I am on the same page with the boys. I have a whole list of books that I am working on. I love love love having a list of good books waiting on me to finish my current one and move on to the next. It depresses me to have a lull in good reading material.

I just had to throw this cutie patootie in for good measure.

A few random pictures of my angel - well maybe a tad more than a few.

I can't believe he is 5 1/2 months already! It seems like that pesky stork just barely dropped him off.

Lola girl is just a little bit territorial of my sweet baby.

I don't think he minds all together.

A little bit sad.

We were asked by BYU to participate in an infant study for 5 month old babies. It was a quick little study (in theory). We go in, we put this darling little sensor cap on and then Ryan watches a 3 minute video. Not quite how it worked out. Ryan was all sweet and charming UNTIL they put that blasted cap on him. It had to be tight enough to read what amazing brilliance was coming from his brain - unfortunately I think it pinched a little and scared him so he went ballistic. Crazy, sobbing, shaking. So so sad. I got him to calm down some and with his little hiccup breathing he watched their video. I don't know how much of the information was useful to them, but oh well. My sweet baby perked right back up after we left and I told him just how smart he was.

Disneyland 2010

What a great time we had! It could not have been more perfect! The weather was great, there was minimal lines and minimal crowds and the food, well I could have chronicled our whole vacation around our constant snacks and delicious meals. My favorite meal hands down was the meal we had at Cafe Orleans in Disneyland. We ate out on the patio and had the MOST DELICIOUS garlic cheese fries w/ Cajun dipping sauce - my mouth waters at the thought ( We also had some fantastic gumbo and an amazing Monte Cristo sandwich there, but the real star was the fries - mmm!) I should mention that these weren't just any old cheese fries. They were crispy hot fries that fresh from the fryer were tossed with garlic, freshly grated parmesan cheese and a few herbs to create some fantastically crunchy cheesy finger licking Pommes Frites (the fancy term for what we devoured).

Colby won a screaming contest at the Monsters Inc. ride in California Adventureland. They gathered all the kids around right when the park opened and had them scream to help "power up" the Monsters Inc. ride. My sweet but very loud little Colby WON! He won a VIP pass to that particular ride all day. He only had to present his little award to be ushered in the back door right up to the front of the line for the ride. Anytime he wanted all day. Needless to say he rode that ride at least a 1/2 dozen times that day.

The baby was an angel, the boys were such fun, DeeDee was a great traveling partner and we even had a day with JoDee, Kristy (and kids), and Nate & Steph!

Oh what fun! I need to lose the 10+ lbs I brought home with me and then I will be ready to do it again.
